For years the underlay we today call “combilay” has been a most suitable and cost effective underlay for the flooring industry.

Combilay is made of a 2mm thick aerothene that is laminated onto a clear 80 micron virgin plastic moisture membrane, with a 100mm overlap on the one side that is to be taped down.

Aerothene is an inexpensive flexible and durable packaging material that is fully recyclable. It has slight insulating and cushioning properties to protect the goods from moisture, scratches, dents and chips during transport and storage, when laminated onto a plastic film, the vapour barrier, this provides a suitable smooth, even and moisture resistant layer for laminate flooring to be installed on. It also reduces walking noise on the floor as well as increases the floors stability. For the best results, we use a virgin plastic, as the use of re-cycled plastic will over time de-generate under the flooring
